What is your first reaction to the people in these drawings?
Do you connect with any one of them? If you could get to know any of these people, who would it be?
As you look at their faces, what do you think they are feeling?
Do they seem different to you? What kind of differences do you see?
Are there any things you have in common with them? Any similarities?
What is the process of depriving people of their rights? (See ADL Pyramid of Hate--https://www.adl.org/media/12060/download)
Have you ever seen or taken part in any of these types of behavior (like name-calling or bullying)?
Should you speak up when you witness this type of behavior? Why or why not?
Discuss the drawing "First They Came for the Jews" (this drawing is in the Gallery as 3 separate panels)
What does it mean to be labelled an "other"?
Have you ever felt excluded? What does it feel like to be labelled an "other"?
Discuss "The Golden Rule"---treat others as you would want them to treat you.
Can you empathize with other people?
Discuss the drawings "Identity Papers" and "Sisters with Jewish Star".
What is the purpose of the Identity Papers and of the Jewish Star?
Discuss the images you see in "Inhumanity". Why do students react so strongly to these images?
Do you understand the following:
Stereotypes (all Jews are bad)
Prejudice (I don't like Jews at all)
Discrimination (no Jews are allowed in here)
Scapegoating (Jews are responsible for all of our problems)
Have you seen examples of these types of behavior in your own life? (all Gays are....., all Blacks are.....etc.)
Have you ever been involved in any of these behaviors? Would you behave differently in the future?
Do you know the fate of Jews in Europe under Hitler?

What was Hitler's "Final Solution"? How could this have ever happened?
How was it possible to murder 6 million Jews?
What important lessons can you learn from studying the Holocaust?
Do you have any examples from the Pyramid of Hate today in your life, in your community, or in your country?
